Santacon is infamous bar crawl that takes place during December in almost every major city across the United States. Basically, a bunch of piss drunk idiots dressed at Ol’ St. Nick rage havoc in the streets, singing naughty christmas carols and running wild through the mall during the holiday shopping season. The event is described by its organizers as “a a non-denominational, non-commercial, non-political and non-sensical Santa Claus convention that happens once a year for absolutely no reason.”

But it’s not all fun and games. Many city officials dread the event, with New York City even trying to ban it entirely, citing violence and theft by those dressed in cheer. The LA Times has said that they see the event as just a reason for people to come to the city to “ruin the weekend.” Non the less, it seems that no one can put Santa Baby in the corner, with over 42 cities already signed up for their big day. So if you’re planning of attending Santacon in your city, here’s some tips and tricks so that you don’t end up lost, alone, drunk, or in jail.

Tip #1 Bring cash

Okay, so think about it. You are going to be out in a bar with like 100 other santas. The bartenders don’t have time for yor credit card transaction much less can they even tell you guys apart. Make their lives easier and bring cash. Also, you’ll most likely get a drink faster when you wave the green stuff in the air.

Tip #2 Don’t be a Ho

This is not sluttycon. Leave your lingerie at home ladies. Santacon is about not standing out. It’s about blending together to form one huge classic santa claus outfit. Santas Unite.

Tip #3 Go slow homie

Santacon is a loooonnnggg day full of twists, turns, surprises, and of course alcohol. Take your time, it’s not a race. In fact the point is to make it to the end, because that’s when things get really crazy. if you can stay relatively un-drunk until the sun goes down, you’ll be able to enjoy all the late night santa antics (or Santics) that much more.
